STARS Teacher Recognition Awards – “Superior Teaching Achievements in RISD"

Click here to download the STARS nomination form.

In order to encourage innovation, creativeness, and superior results in the classroom, the Tomorrow Foundation grants monetary awards to teachers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching,

The STARS Teacher Recognition Award Committee consists of three classroom teachers who have been previous award winners; one district administrator; one Board of Trustees member; one RISD Tomorrow Board member; and four PTA members, one from each attendance area.

Semi-finalists are selected from written nominations and interviewed by the committee. The interview questions are chosen by the committee and changed annually. These finalists then receive three classroom visits from the committee to evaluate their instructional activities.  A minimum of one recipient from each attendance zone (J. J. Pearce Area, Richardson High School Area, Lake Highlands Area, and Berkner High School Area) and six additional teachers from throughout the district (maximum ten recipients) will be selected as STARS Award recipients.

Administrative Excellence Awards – In Recognition of Outstanding Principals in RISD

Each year at the Foundation-sponsored Administrator Appreciation Luncheon, the Tomorrow Foundation announces one elementary and one secondary principal as recipients of the Administrative Excellence Awards.  Their selection is based on student success in their schools, leadership, respect by their peers, and a high level of school-community involvement.

The Administrator Appreciation Luncheon is a post-school year event designed to recognize a “job well done” by all administrators, to honor the recipients of the Administrative Excellence Awards, and to give them all a relaxed and fun-filled event to conclude the year.

The recipients of the award are recognized again at the Education Leadership Banquet held in the spring.  Corporate partners, volunteers, administrative staff and selected AVID students are put center stage for the community to acknowledge their leadership for quality education in the Richardson ISD.
